Anthurium crystallinum 'Silver' is an exceptional variety of Anthurium crystallinum, appreciated for its silvery leaves, which give it a sophisticated and elegant appearance. The glossy white veins, even more pronounced than on the classic form, create a striking contrast with the deep green of the leaves, adding a luxurious touch to any interior.
Origin: This variety, like the classic Anthurium crystallinum, is native to the tropical forests of Central and South America. It was selected for its distinctive characteristics, including the silvery coloration of its leaves.
Growth: Anthurium crystallinum 'Silver' has a moderate growth habit, gradually forming large, thick, slightly velvety leaves. This plant can reach approximately 60 to 90 cm in height when grown indoors, with a similar spread, depending on growing conditions.
Flowers: The flowers of this variety are inconspicuous, typical of Anthuriums, with a green or creamy-white spathe surrounding a central spadix. However, it is mainly for its spectacular foliage that this plant is cultivated.
Light: Anthurium crystallinum 'Silver' prefers bright, indirect light but will also tolerate moderate light. An east- or west-facing window is ideal. As with other Anthuriums, it is important to protect the plant from direct sunlight to prevent leaf burn.
Watering: Water regularly to keep the soil slightly moist, allowing the surface to dry out between waterings. Make sure the plant is never in soggy soil to avoid root rot problems. High ambient humidity is beneficial for this variety.
Substrate: A well-draining mix rich in organic matter is recommended. A substrate composed of peat, perlite, and bark is ideal for this plant, allowing good aeration of the roots while retaining sufficient moisture.
Toxicity: Anthurium crystallinum 'Silver' is toxic if ingested. It is advisable to keep it out of reach of children and pets.
